If a prospective customer walked into your shop or office, you wouldn’t want it to be dirty, messy, or poorly lit, with no one at the reception desk. And when they rang the bell on the counter, it wouldn’t be great if it took someone a few days to get back to them…so why would you settle for that with your website?
Your website is your digital representation of your business so anything less than amazing is not portraying your business as you’d want it, which is why we build amazing websites!
Here is a quick glimpse of the process we go through when building your website.
Step 1: Initial Contact
First up, you decide that you need a new website and get in touch with the team here at SMK. From there, we might have a quick phone call to determine the next step, followed by a meeting - either on Zoom, or face-to-face. During this call, we will discuss your goals, who you want to target, and the main message you wish to convey. We’ll decide what the purpose of your website is - it may be to sell a product, showcase your work, or generate leads.
Step 2: The Proposal
No, not the Ryan Reynolds movie. After our initial meeting, we’ll send you a proposal. This will tell you, in detail, what your website will include, what the process/workflow will look like, and what costs there will be. Should you accept the proposal you will automatically be directed to the contract. This includes the terms & conditions and a questionnaire. Using this questionnaire, our designers will be able to come up with something wonderful to match your requirements.
Step 3: The Design Concept
This is the exciting bit where you get to see what it will look like! This is when our extremely talented designers will come up with something that’s going to make your website stand out. Studies suggest that the average time spent on a website is less than 15 seconds. That’s how long you have to catch your site visitors’ attention - which is why it’s so important to get this bit right - and we will! Once we’re done, we’ll send you the design concept and get your feedback. If we need to go back and make changes we will, and we’ll keep doing this until it’s perfect and exactly how you want it.
Step 4: Website Development
We’ve defined your objectives and planned your design, so now it’s time to bring your website to life! Just like before, we’ll let you review and sign off on it, and if we need to make changes, we will.
Step 5: GO LIVE
Now for the best part. We’ll work together to agree on a date to go live! After this, there will be a two week period for you to send through any additional tweaks, and then we’ll give you access to the site. Don’t worry, we’ll also send you through bespoke training videos so that you can become an expert too on simple edits! Also, every other month we’ll send you through a website analytics report - this is way more exciting than it sounds, promise! This will allow you to see who your audience is, what they are interested in, and where they are coming from. We also offer you a support package which means you can have updates and changes done in the future.
So there you have it- 5 steps to building an amazing website. The beauty of web design is that your site can evolve with you. As your business grows you may find that you want to increase the number of pages, add more functionality, or update certain features, but that’s what we’re here for. Even after your site goes live, we’re always on hand to help!
